Approximately 25,000 households in southeastern Queensland were left lacking electricity on the start of the week after severe thunderstorms passed over the region, producing wind gusts reaching 109km/h.

Locals witnessed large ice chunks measuring up to 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts announced that different parts across the state had been affected by large hailstones.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 requests for assistance across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and water accumulation.

Moist weather were forecast to persist along large portions of Queensland's east this week as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.
Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both regions.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
